Best of India awards says NMMC has set the world record with simultaneous street plays at 111 wards.
NAVI MUMBAI: Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has set a world record in simultaneous staging of street plays at its 111 electoral wards.
The plays were held on Wednesday as part of the Swachh Navi Mumbai mission with a total of 836 people doing the plays under the theme Majha Sahar Majha Sahbag (My City, My Participation).
‘Best of India Records' has monitored the event and issued the certificate of record for the largest such event in the world.
B B Nayak from Best of India Records (BIR) presented the certificate to NMMC commissioner Abhijit Bangar today.
Bangar has congratulated the people of Navi Mumbai for this world record and described it as yet another feather in the city’s cap.
NMMC area has already won the first rank in the Swachh Sarvekshan Survey among cities with less than 10 lakh population.
For the uninitiated, Navi Mumbai as planned by the Maharashtra Government as a counter-magnet to Mumbai cuts into Thane and Raigad districts. The Thane district part is administered by the NMMC, while the rest of the geography has different civic bodies and village panchayats.
