Environment lovers, citizen groups respond well for NMMC cleanliness drive
NAVI MUMBAI, Sep 25 (The CONNECT) - A 60 ft x 32 ft flamingo model was created from hundreds of kilograms of trash collected form mangroves near T S Chanakya in Navi Mumbai as part of the Indian Swachhta League.
Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) organised a 7.5 km human chain holding the national tricolour along Palm Beach Road on Thursday with Mangrove Soldiers, Jayshri Foundation, Divine Foundation, environment lovers, NCC cadets of civic schools have participating in it.u
The volunteers also cleaned the trash in mangroves near TS Chanakya and collected over 450 kg of trash including thermocol, plastic bottles, chappals, shioes, cans, oil cans, different tyoes of bags, plastic and fishing net pieces.
Kishore Viswas Arts created a 60 ftx32 ft flamingo model to spread the message to keep the bird destinations clean.
NMMC commissioner Abhijit Bangar appreciated the enthusiastic response from among environment lovers and citizen groups for the cleanliness awareness drive.
He remarked that the flamingo picture created out of the trash is an excellent idea to remind ourselves to keep conserve our mangrove zones and wetlands and keep them clean.
