HYDERABAD, Nov 23 (The CONNECT) - Rotary Club of Hyderabad Centennial has announced an Inter-Academy-Club Badminton Team championship with the tagline “Smash it for a cause”.
It is a team tournament with the participants being Badminton Academies and Privilege Clubs in the city. Rotary Club Centennial targets to raise Rs six lakhs to fund 100 cataract surgeries for the underprivileged.
The tournament, open to all above 30 years of age, will be held on December 24th & 25th, at RRC Sports Complex, Secunderabad. The Championship is supported by Vishwanmanya Badminton Academy
Hyderabad city has well over 200 badminton academies and over 15 privileged clubs. All the players in these organizations play individually in their organizations.
A total of 32 Teams will be participating in the tournament. Each team consists of 5 Category Men’s Doubles. A unique feature of the tournament is that the total age of two participants has to be above 65 ,70, 80, 90 and 100 years. With this, the teams will be a combination of young-and-old players to make up for the age categories.
The game will be played with a feather shuttle for the prize money Rs.1,00,000 plus a rolling trophy for the winning team and Rs. 50,000 with a trophy for the runner-up. All the participants will get certificates and medals.
