5,300 cows rescued from slaughter houses

Over 15,000 cow lovers from the twin cities and neighbouring districts participated in the Annakut celebrations by contributing for running the cow shelter

HYDERABAD, Nov 28 (The CONNECT) - South India’s biggest cow shelter, Satyam Shivam Sundaram Gau Nivas, home to about 5,300 cows rescued from slaughter houses, organised a Grand Annakut Celebration today.

Over 15,000 cow lovers from the twin cities and neighbouring districts participated in the Annakut celebrations by contributing for running the cow shelter. 

A Pune-based spiritual musical group performed bhajans and prayers

Many cow related products- cow urine, bio fertiliser called Dharthi Sudhar made from Cow Dung and Urine and incense sticks etc were on display and sale. 

The cow shelter founder Dharam Raj Ranka said the Annakut festival is celebrated at the beginning of each New Year.   Lots of variety of food items prepared with love and devotion are offered to God.

Eighty-one-year-old Ranka, set up the Gau Shala with a mission to protect India’s most revered animal cow.
