Dr Renu Mathani says Vitamin D is not an optional supplement. It is a non-negotiable cellular necessity.

On World Psoriasis Day, Dr. Mili Shah, President, Ozone Forum of India & Dr Renu Mathani, DM, FNMN, (USA) Founder of Autoimmunity Treatment Centre at Pune, narrate the impact of oxygenation & vitamin D on this condition

World Psoriasis Day, observed on October 29, focuses on those who suffer from psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. This day aims to increase awareness and improve access to treatment. As per industry sources, Psoriasis affects over 2.6cr people in India and often leads to social discrimination due to its physical manifestations. This time the global theme is you are #NotAlone thus helping people gain awareness on same.

Psoriasis is the most common skin disease. As many as 1 person in 40 is affected by psoriasis.  Typical scales on the skin, often itchy, can make everyday life very difficult for patients thus leading to social isolation. The disease is considered incurable and inflammation is its main cause. Inflammation is a natural reaction of the body to an external attack: bacteria, viruses, fungi and serves to fight infection.

What causes it -?

Auxiliary T lymphocytes play a key role in psoriasis, the levels of which increase significantly, contributing to the secretion of inflammatory cytokines and the increased proliferation of skin cells. However, the dysregulated immune system affects the whole body. It is an autoimmune condition.

Typical treatment of psoriasis is limited to external preparations, in more serious cases immunosuppressive treatment is used, and thus strongly suppressing the immune system, with many side effects.

How can it be cured?

Complementary medicine assumes that if the immune system is ill, it is worth considering the cause of this state of affairs and addressing it. It is always necessary to analyse whether the basic needs of the body are met, which include detoxification, nutrition, and oxygenation.

Role of vitamin D

Dr. Renu Mahtani Says, “On this World Psoriasis Day let us look at root cause correction therapies. Megadose vitamin D therapy is need of the hour which works as defence against autoimmunity.”

From time immemorial, vitamin D has played a vital role in commanding our whole body into a state of wellbeing. The role of vitamin D goes beyond the regulation of calcium and bone health. Low levels of vitamin D can drastically impact a person's physical and mental wellbeing. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to various health problems, including cognitive decline, depression, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, autoimmune diseases and cancer.

Vitamin D in its active form is actually a master hormone that controls at least 200 genes in our cells. Following the discovery of vitamin D receptors throughout the body, its role in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases is gaining momentum. It is being positioned as the critical aspect in immune system functioning and gut homeostasis too. Vitamin D empowers the immune system against viruses, bacteria, and other microorganisms. Vitamin D is not an optional supplement. It is a non-negotiable cellular necessity.

Ozone Therapy

Dr. Mili Shah, President, The Ozone Forum of India, Bisleri Charitable Trust says, Ozone therapy is a wonderful therapy for detoxification and which also enhances and modulates your immunity and circulation. Ozone Therapy’s results show that ozone therapy is effective in treating psoriasis. Ozone therapy works as regulation of the overactive response of the immune system. It reduces the level of oxidative stress. Exerts an anti-inflammatory effect by acting on the NF-KB nuclear receptor.

The body is unable to function efficiently if the amount of toxins it struggles with exceeds its ability to be removed. This affects the condition of the immune system. The body overloaded with toxins will try to remove them through the skin, which may also result in psoriatic lesions.

Ozone rectal Insufflation works wonderfully on the gut dysbiosis.
