GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi will formally unveil the iconic artwork on Monday
HYDERABAD, Mar 18 (The CONNECT) – Yet another iconic statue is coming up in the city- Statue of Empowerment & Glory.
Young FICCI Ladies Organisation (YFLO) embarked on a novel initiative by installing the 20-feet iconic artwork to celebrate the country’s 75th year of independence.
Being installed at Midspace Circle in Cyberabad, the Statue of Empowerment & Glory will formally be unveiled on Monday by Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, Mayor of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). Dr. Sangeetha Reddy, Joint M.D Apollo hospitals, and Aparna Reddy, former FLO National President, will be the guests of honour.
This statue of 'empowerment and glory' is to celebrate female strength, sacrifice and selflessness, said Deepti Reddy, Chairperson, YFLO Hyderabad. “The idea struck me in the beginning of tenure as Chairperson of YFLO to make the year memorable not just for me but for the city and entire nation,” explained Deepthi. The medium used for this art installation is one tonne of solid iron. About 15 people worked on it for 8 months.
“It denotes women's power, strength and glory and celebration of 75 years of Indian independence,” she said and remarked that “It is a proud moment for YFLO Hyderabad Chapter since is a first by any YFLO chapter”.
The statue has been created by renowned artist Avijit Dutta from Kolkata. It depicts the hard work of every woman in the society and helps them to empower themselves and lead the a successful and an honourable life, Deepthi said.
There are so many art installations installed at various road junctions in the twin cities, but this statue is an installation with unique cause, purpose—empowerment, women power, strength, Deepthi explained.
“The city of Hyderabad has given so much to all of us and this is our return gift to the people of the city,”, she said.
